Your advices requested.where to ship in S.America and from which Europe port.

Close Turkish friend, Club Mate (no foreign language), is planning S.America trip by bike in 2015-september/october..Just completed the asia leg of his rtw.trip including Myanmar Pass from India to Thailand..

Your advices kindly requested for easy and cheaper paperwork on ;

1-where to ship the bike in South America as the starting point of the trip
2-from which european port

If we can make a group, container share or airfreight together from any west european city with a compatitable price will be ok. too...

Your advices on the matter and recommandations for sea/air freight company will be highly appreciated..

All the best..

villa kunterbunt valparaiso chile
Chile(Valparaiso) back to Germany (Black Forest)

Can recommend both

used the same! just as a side-note: if you don't want to do all the paperwork at the port on your own it might be better to directly contact the villa kunterbunt. intime will "only" get the motorcycle there, they won't get it out of customs for you

What are prices and fees like to Valparaiso compared to BA?

I guess you also need to remember that you can't get a direct flight to Valparaiso and flights to less popular airports are likely to be a little more expensive or involve more stops/changes.

By air BA is around £1500 plus fees at the other side plus a £700 flight direct from Paris or Amsterdam. By sea it's about £800 but there's more fees at the other side.

To clear customs in Motevideo will cost nearly $1400 USD

There are also reports that customs in Montevideo will not let you clear the bike yourself.

Motevideo is not a good place to ship the bike to.

Thanks for the reply..have you got any prices for a complete turnkey..I heard montevideo will be a problem for paperwork, valparaisso is mostly recommended if ok.for you too..

I guess will be better to freight both bikes together, will share all expenses at both sides...If agreed, will make europe route planning end there at the fixed date..

For the return shipment to europe,in touch with a friend in brazil..will get net prices say a few months later..

Lets keep in touch..
All the best.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
