Question Traveling PERU - Some beginners questions
Hey,
I'm new to these wonderful community and need some help and advise.
My past experience is crossing India North to South about one year ago.
Some 17K km, in 6 months total. Had great experience.

Now, a year had past and I got caught strongly in a womens charm.
We are about to travel together to Peru next week, and stay there for two months.
The thing is-
I feel like I can't travel anyway else then on a motorcycle.
I am not sure that buying and selling a motorbike in a two months vacation is worth the hassle. Also, we are planing to spend at least 15 days trecking, by foot around Cusco and Huaraz. adding the time for buying and selling leaves as with only one month left for Riding.
On the other hand - Renting a bike for two months would be a huge expense of money.
And I also wonder how wise it is to travel both on one motorcycle, how are the roads? I understand we will not be able to go off road around Cusco, would it still worth it?

my overall question is, maybe i'm over excited, maybe the right thing would be to travel like everyone else and rent motorbikes at different destinations for day trip? I just feel I might never pardon myself for letting this opportunity for adventure.

Plenty of places to rent bikes short and long term in Cusco. I can recommend Alejandro at https://www.perumototours.com/ Perú moto tours. You'll be fine 2 up and there's plenty to see within a weeks ride of Cusco that would make it (in my opinion) worthwhile. You'll be fine 2 up, I personally wouldn't recommend a big bike, maybe a CRF250L or XRE 300/400 would be ideal. (unless ofcourse you are used to big bikes 2 up).

Some hot spots that would make it worth renting for a month for example : Puno (Lake Titicaca) Arequipa, Colca Canyon, around sacred valley self tour, rainbow Mountain, Cotahuasi canyon etc. You could fill a month quite easily and not feel that you could have seen more by bus. To be honest, if you end up on the buses you'll be on Perú hop more than likely, and it's tourist hotspot to tourist hotspot.

Check out adventure motorcycle tours in Peru and all South America - Moto Purchase & Buy Back I bought a Honda Tornado from him almost 4 years ago now, and still store it in Peru. He has a buy back program. My recommendation is Honda over a China bike; just for the added quality and less hassle. Huaraz and the Lagunas area is awesome, as is the central highlands of northern Peru. I like northern Peru way more than the tourist area around Cusco.

I hope the OP has confirmed that the Love Interest is equally enthralled with motorcycle travel. It doesn’t work for everyone.

What is your concept of a huge expense? Do you have champagne taste on a budget? Some backpackers and motorcyclist scrape along, living super cheap, eating bad food, staying in the worst lodging, all to make their trip as long as possible. Quantity over quality. Ok, I stayed in my share of fleabag hotels in my travels, then the next day splurged and dined on a world-class meal at Central

Sometimes the price of adventure is freezing your ass off at 15,000 ft while going over a mountain pass in snow and sometimes it's happily paying for expensive gas in Brazil. You don't need a ton of money to have an epic trip. But you might have a more relax adventure spending X amount over one month instead of X amount over 2 months. And when you come back you might still be in a richer relationship, not in the final stages of breaking up.
