Shipping a bike from Ushuaia to B.A
Hi all
I am interested to know if anyone has put their motorbike on a truck from Ushuaia to Buenos Aires and gone on the truck with it? I met a rider who claimed he done it and it was cheaper than the petrol would have cost. I am in Ushuaia at the moment and want to know if anyone has any tips

Be sure and use a reputable transport company and provide the company with COPIES of all the bike's documentation they will need if they are stopped and inspected. If possible, ride along with your bike and be ready to verify ownership, and have your valid TVIP handy.

Some years ago a friendly/helpful Argentine was transporting a tourist's foreign registered bike over the route you mentioned - but neglected to bring a copy of the bike's TVIP and/or registration etc and written permission from the owner to transport the bike. The Argentine was detained and the bike confiscated until the owner arrived - days later to sort out the matter.

A reputable trucking company will be well aware of all the regulations regarding the transport of a vehicle/motorcycle. And, it is customary to pick up your motorcycle at the company warehouse or transport hub in BA - the company may or may not deliver to you....., or if they do - will charge an additional fee... so sort out where you will receive your bike ahead of time.

Ushuaia → Buenos Aires = 3.000 km of wonderful Patagonia and productive Pampa, worth to see.

Probably cheaper than transporting bike and yourself. Ann the invested time asking, consulting and doing paperwork.

I'll be down there in a couple of months and it will be cold. I would love to ride in a warm truck cab with my bike in back.

Anyone transporting a bike from Ushuaia without the owner present will need to have a means of crossing international borders. That means canceling one TVIP, arranging another, then canceling the second in order to arrange a third.

I don't know how easy or difficult that might be, but I'm guessing "difficult." Should be fine as long as you're right there with it...but I think I'd rather ride a bike than sit in the cab of a transport truck for several days. The terrain is mostly not very interesting, but there are beaches, marine wildlife, a few hills here and there, and miscellaneous other places of interest. I rode that area in March and April--it's not too cold, relative to a lot of places.

Another easy option for tired riders is go to Rio Gallegos, put the bike on a truck (all the travel on Argentina territory) and take a flight to Buenos Aires and wait next the bar drinking a looking nice women

Ushuaia to Buenos Aires, late March - early April 2016
Any readers/riders out there who could provide information on riding from Ushuaia to Buenos Aires late March - early April, please. Spouse is currently in Antofagasto, Chile, repairing his KTM. Plan is to continue to reach destination of Ushuaia assuming all mechanical issues are resolved.
Understand that summer is going to give way to autumn, so he and riding partner will have to determine if riding/weather conditions will be satisfactory to ride as far south as Ushuaia in early autumn.
Awaiting to hear back from Dakar Motos (Buenos Aires) regarding shipping bike back to States. Does anyone know if it is even feasible to ship FROM Ushuaia?
