SELLING bike in LaPaz BOLIVIA

Hi guys!

Slowly I will finish my trip from Colombia to Chile on my lovely motorbike (125cc). I would like sell it in LaPaz (very low price).

Some details:

Motorbike: AKT NDK
Capacity: 125cc
Course: 7000km
Year: 2018
Register country: Colombia
Owner: Me (European guy)
Price: 600-500 $
Extra: platform for bags + tools
History: second owner, no problem at all, oil change evry 800-1000km

Can you give me some advice how to cope with paper works and where is the best place to sell it ? I will be in LaPaz around 23th of NOVEMBER

Best regards,
Luke

At that price, especially in Bolivia, it'd be easiest if you went to any bike repair place and said you're thinking of selling it. It'll be gone the first time you say that. They don't care about paperwork at all.

If you want to sell it to another traveller it'll be a CARTA PODER. You need to go together with the buyer to a notary and get a carta poder por conducir en todo países en sur América. Then get that notorized. It's easy, not even a full day if you can find a decent notary (some will say they can't do it, just persist).

Its not possible to transfer the actual ownership without you both being in Colombia. But people have travelled for years on a poder so don't stress it. When the buyer is done with the bike, he can either try get it in his name if he's in Colombia and sell it on, sell it on a double poder; or, for that money, probably sell it to a farmer.

Hi! Either on here (there's a bikes for sale section) or on the Facebook panamerican travellers association, also overland buy & sell Facebook. Don't suppose you'd think about coming back to Cusco? I might know someone interested.... Dan +61422814389

Thank you very much for your helpful informations!! I wanna buy a motorbike in Bolivia or, if I don't find there, in Chile. In these two countries can I buy used motorbikes with any plates doing a CARTA PODER and cross the borders between all the countries in South America?
