Buying a foreign bike in Colombia

Hello,

I've seen numerous posts for the sale of foreign bikes in Colombia and am interested in buying a non-Colombian bike to travel around Colombia and to other countries.

However after sifting through countless posts on how a sale process is done I am sufficiently confused.
There are posts on TVIPs, title issues, going to no-man's land, photoshopping, and other random things. Other posts point out that tourists selling to other tourists is easy.

Is there a simple standard way of doing this? How do I get the TVIP renewed?

Obviously I am not going to mail the title home, wait 6 weeks for it to get processed and then wait for it to get mailed back to me in Colombia.

It almost seems that I am better off just buying a bike from a dealer and not worrying about any of these issues.

Thanks in advance.
Matt

Hi Matt
I have a trooper of a bike in Medellin which I'll be selling around the 14th of May. (It's a Colombian bike)

Is a Suzuki DR350, but the one tuned for more road use. She's perfect for Colombia, and overtakes anything I've needed her to without any hassle.

I need to check the papers when I get back for the year of the bike, but think it's 2000. Sounds old, but it's been really well maintains and I've had no issues.

Just had a brand new rear tyre, and recently had a new chain and sprocket.

Easiest to contact me on here until I get back to Colombia.

I've just had a full carrying rack put onto the back because I was planning to head down to Peru, but I'm got to head back home for a job interview now.

I'm looking for about 1900USD. I can help sort all the paperwork out.

Let me know if you think you might be interested.

Any chance you still have this bike? I'm looking for on in about a week. Either Colombia or somewhere near by as a starting point for a trip.
