Please help: looking for a sidecar in Argentina on Jan-25 2014!
Please share this story. We haven't found a motorcycle with sidecar yet:/
On the 24th of January 2014, Hannah Verhoeff (29) and Rutger de Graaf (38) will embark on a remarkable and unforgettable trip through Argentina and Chile. Their aim is to ride all the way from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia, along the way visiting Miramar, General Roca, Bariloche, El Calafate, Tores Del Paine and Rio Grande. Inspired by the movie 'The Motorcycle Diaries', Hannah and Rutger decided to ride part of that route, and check out the beauty of both Argentina and Chile: enjoying the landscape, the weather and more importantly, the people and their culture. What is special about this trip is the fact that they will be traveling the 5500 km by motorbike and to be precise (and necessarily), a motorbike with sidecar.
Hannah has been traveling some of the world's eastern countries on a Minsk and a Royal Enfield and originally came up with the idea of traveling South America. From his 20th birthday on, Rutger has been coping with a decease called PLS which causes his legs to move very stiffly. For that reason he has to move around in a wheelchair but, both being gifted with a strong urge to make dreams happen no matter what the difficulties are, and the ability to set goals in their lives they decided to make this trip happen. As a preparation, Rutger decided to get his special driver's license to be allowed to ride a motorcycle with sidecar and Hannah has taken a special course in riding this sidecar.
They aim high, they are still hoping to find a motorcycle with sidecar in or around Buenos Aires or Rosario. If in any way possible, they will have it adjusted so Rutger can drive the motorcycle as well with only his hands so they can both enjoy the ride from the rider's and the passenger's perspective. The plane flies back from Ushuaia on the 28th of February, hopefully containing Hannah and Rutger, as well as a ton of beautiful memories. The yet unnamed motorbike, which they still have to find (the bike in the movie is called 'La Poderosa'), will probably be sold and left behind to be driven northwards again by a fellow adventurer.
In case you are the owner of a bike, or know someone who does, let them know and they will be eternally grateful for your cooperation.
