Fray Bentos border crossing/insurance

We're looking to cross from Argentina to Uraguay at Fray Bentos tomorrow (21st May 2012)
Has anybody crossed here recently?
Will we be able to cross without insurance paperwork (2x motos)?
Cheers
Pete & Caf

Hi Guys, I was in Fray Bentos 2 months ago and it was open although I was told that they still have the occasional protest. However, the Paysandu and Salto bridges are OK. The aduana check that you have the insurance and won't let you in without it. I was/am using ATM insurance bought in BA, (Florida 833 2nd floor AR$60.00 per month) and asked for Mercusor cover which includes Uruguay. Any questions about Uruguay, give me a PM I've just spent the last couple of months riding round there. Ride safe

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the reply, we forgot about the post!
We crossed into Uraguay no problem at FB (even with no insurance!) only stayed a few days due to a large low sitting over the whole country but will return in the summer.
In Paraguay, Ciudad Del Este at the moment but leave tomorrow heading north towards to Chaco.

Cheers
Pete & Caf
(still not sorted insurance!, should of done it in BA but were so keen to get on the road we thought we'd do it somewhere else, no such luck, Have you any contact details for the BA office? perhaps we could do it via email with them?)
Where are you now?

Hi Guys, try this one.

ATM
Florida 833,
piso2
Edificio Thompson
Bs.As.

atmotos@oaseatm.com.ar

They are up at the Plaza San Martin end of Florida and in my experience are very helpful. Make sure that you ask for the Mercosur addition and check the countries listed before you leave the table, I think their printer has a mind of it's own. It's AR$60 per month. Ride safe.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
