I have a KLE 500 (red, 1997)which I am willing to sell, preferably at the end of may, beginnig of june. Austrian registration, some 60000 km on the clock, regular service. So far it took me for 17 000 km through South America, with just the Speedometercable broken. I would sell the Topcase (Givi), some small sidebags, and (if wanted) the tankbag with it, and throw in helmet, (old) gloves and (old) jacket for free. Asking price would be 3000 US. Write me an email, if you are interested: K.Mellacher@aonmail.at.

Hi Arlen Aas - You sound very knowledgable about buying bikes in South America, please can you help. My girlfriend & I are planning to fly to Chile or Puru in the middle of August this year and then ride up to California or further. Do you know anyone who's selling a suitable bike ataround that time ? It would be a massive help and if you could put me in touch with a resident in Chile or Peru that doesn't mind us using their address to register the bike. I would really appreciate it if you could tell me how I register a bike in these contries/
Thanks a million,
Jas

Buying bike in Chile

If you search on this site for articles from Jens, you will find some info on buying bikes. He has spelled out his experiences looking around in Santiago. He ultimately bought two Yamaha 600XT's from rental agency in Osorno. He is traveling for 8 weeks and I suspect would sell the bikes. Not sure where he will land but I suspect back near place that he purchased them. Likely that those persons (where bought them) would sell.
If you can wait until Jan 1 of 2007, my two bikes would be sitting at north tip of Chile and I'd be there to transfer bikes to you. Paperwork is farily simple. A dealer can do that for you or I can help if I am there. I understand that there are lots of bikes for sale in Santiago. If you can't find Jens, let me know and I'll get you in contact with him. Also...send me a personal email on this site please and we can talk there..........

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
