Day Trip in the of North Santa Cruz Island

Day Trip from Puerto Ayora is a combination of a sightseeing tour, a day cruise on board a comfortable yacht, hiking, and snorkeling activities. Tre trip started with a bus ride from bigger hotels in Puerto Ayora on the South of Santa Cruz Island we crossed the whole of Santa Cruz island to the north in order to get on board our yacht docked at the pier of Itabaca Canal.

On the way to the North, we enjoyed the typical scenery of Santa Cruz island and admire this beauty, so even the transfer is very interesting to experience. Once on board our yacht, we took an hour-long sail to the North Seymour Island along the coast of Baltra Island.

North Seymour Island welcomed us with sea lions on the dock and rocks. The island’s landscape is contrasted by Palo Santo (incense stick) forest and red-colored soil. (North Seymour is a true paradise for bird lovers!)

We had two hours long hike exploring the island and its wildlife and came back on board to have a delicious lunch along with the sailing back to Santa Cruz island.

We stopped by the hardly accessible land Las Bachas Beach on the Northern coast of Santa Cruz island and spent an hour there. It’s an amazing spot for snorkeling and you may spot sharks, a variety of fishes, and maybe flamingos in the beach lagoon.

Later on, we get on board our yacht again and sailed back to dock at the Itabaca Canal where the coach is already waiting for you to serve you a beautiful fifty-minute long drive across the Santa Cruz island to your hotels in Puerto Ayora.

I definitely remember the North Seymour Island Tour as one of my best experiences visiting the Galapagos Islands!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
