Sell my BMW GS1200 ADV in Cartagena or Bogota in August

Hola together,

I would like to sell my bike in Columbia in August this year.
The bike is a BMW GS1200 ADV, year 2012, FULLY equiped with everything what a traveller need (e.g. compressor, 2x 12V car plugs, 2x 5V 3A USB plugs, most of the specific tools for the bike, aluminium panniers, Garmin GPS,... ) My camping gear (incl. a Hilleberg tent) I can sell as well if the buyer want.
If anybody have a serious interest please send me a private message with your Email and I will send you pictures and detailed informations about the bike.
The bike have a german registration. I dont know how it works in Columbia with the paperwork yet. In case its not possible at all, I gonna ship it back home and sell it there.

Best regards @ all and good roads.
End u RO

Hola again,

does anybody ever sold a Bike in Columbia? Is it generally possible after import it on the boarder?
I might get problems when I leave Columbia by plain I guess. For sure they gonna ask about my imported bike, bcoz they have it in their system?!? Or do they not care about that much in Columbia?

Where else can i make my advertisement public? The response is low. So I need to find a way where I can reach columbian locals. Does anyboy life in columbia and give me some advice?

Thanks for any support.
Tom

Selling foreign registered motos in Colombia

Hey,
I'm in Colombia ahead of you by a bit and looking to either sell or ship my US plated bike. From everything I've read/been told it's basically impossible to sell the motorcycle to a Colombian citizen or otherwise import the bike. I met a US citizen in Ecuador (which has similar rules) and he is basically riding his bike non-legally (expired TVIP) because taxes to properly import the bike are impossibly high.

I would think your best bet is to sell it to a fellow German traveler. Someone might correct me, but I would expect a traveler from another country would have difficulty registering the bike in their country site unseen since it would involve importation.

I'm in contact with some freight forwarders right now and I'll try to followup with my experience of who has been good to work with.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
