Now, that is controversial opinion! but hey, you might have impeccable credentials (which I'd like to hear about,) to give such an offensive opinion.
Castillian is spoken propely by educated people in Buenos Aires, and a language teacher is presumably educated.
Uruguayos speak castillian that is hardly distinguishable from Argentine.
Using BA spanish I have travelled to practically every Spanish speaking country and had no problem communicating.
