On one of my nights spent in the Calais ferryport, the police repeatedly threw out a few drunks who had established themselves in the building.
When they got the final heave, I saw the drunks/vagrants had left behind good map of France,(but no wine or ) which was much better than my free maps with the word FLUNCH superimposed all over. It was frustrating to find an area completely obscured which you wanted to look at; you just had to guess the way.( Oh, I also got the drunks' sleeping space. )
So I "collected " this vagrants' map and I use it to this very day, even though N.E. France has been brutally torn from the map. It reminded me of a map of Hungary which I had - a travelling friend said it was the worst map he'd ever seen. But it wasn't expensive.
Was it wrong to acquire a map from these poor unfortunates, these victims of cheap wine?......
