Myanmar crossing (Thailand to India) - July 2019

Hi,

I'm looking to cross Myanmar from Thailand to India around mid-late July 2019. Is there anyone else interested in this so we can form a group and share the costs.

PS: cars, buses, trucks, motorbikes all welcome.

Thanks.

Hi Kiddo 1000,

We will be crossing Myanmar towards India around that time too. It's hard to say exactly when at this stage, but maybe we can talk more closer to the time. We are a couple in a landcruiser.

Where are you at the moment?

Joss

1. Can this be in a forum and so all of us are informed.
2. Have you contacted the Myammar Tour Agency
3. When is the proposed Crossing date
4. What is your required number of participants .. Can advertise in couch surfing Motorbike groups, AdvRider and even in Facebook...

Do hope plan is still on...

We are actually looking at mid June crossing after a closer look at our plans. Could that work with either of you?

I have a Facebook group created for the crossing where we can share infor
information.
I have contacted Osuga Myanmar travels but no official quote as we don’t have confirmed numbers.
I have posts going around Facebook overland travel groups and forums. I will try CouchSurf motorbike groups and AdvRider.
There is no minimum required numbers it just works out cheaper if there’s is more of us crossing

Myanmar crossing from Thailand to India

Border crossings that are open at Thailand border:
• Mae Sot (Thailand) / Myawaddy (Myanmar)
• Ranong (Thailand) / Kaw Thaung (Myanmar)
• Mae Sai (Thailand) / Tachileik (Myanmar) – attention to get to this border you need special permits to cross Eastern Shan state

The border from Myanmar to China is NOT open for foreigners
The border from Myanmar at Htee Kee into Thailand is NOT equipped to handle over landers

You still need to go through a travel agency but there is no longer a compulsory government minder and follow car but you need to have a licensed guide along the trip in the car (to sort out any language problems and check points etc along the way) OR pay for an extra car & guide to travel with you.

Expect to be paying around 200 Usd per vehicle application fees including a compulsory insurance and all paper work AND about 125 Usd per day for the guide (IF the guide can sit in your vehicle) including the guide’s accommodation, meals, transport to and from the borders on his own etc.
