Touring Europe

My two friends and I are planning a trip to euope next summer with the hope of seeing as much as possible, we have 3 months and would like to go up through norway, into rusia to moscow and then accross the bottom of ruope finally coming back to England by way of spain and western france. We're not too sure if this is a realistic route as we have little experience of touring. Longest we've done so far is to scotland from south coast,(1500 miles total) Is this an unrealistic tour or should we just get on and do it. Any help appreciated.

Hi
Sounds like a big circle but i am sure it is possible.I normally work out the very approximate route and mileage, work out what average mileage you need to do a day and where you need to be at a certain date to complete a planned tour.Prepare to be flexible,so don't plan a strict itenary as you may want to stay somewhere longer or one of you may get a mechanical problem that holds you up.
The only way to find out is 'just do it' !

Sounds like a good route and should be a great trip.

Don't spend hours planning it all - you can make do with a rough plan of where you want to go and how long to take, but the best way is to just get on your bikes and go. There's little worse than finding somewhere you want to spend time in, but feeling that you have to press on to keep with the schedule. We set off on our trip with no touring experience at all (in fact, the first time we packed the bikes was the day before we left!), we had a map of the world and a very rough timetable which got blown out the water when we got to Turkey and spent a month there instead of our planned week.

Remember that the road network in Europe is excellent, so if you run out of time or you need to come home, you can be back in a few days even from as far east as Moscow.

Have a great trip.

Harvey

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
