shortcut into Kazakhstan

Hi there
I am looking at a road on a Kazakhstan map(made by Gizi map)After leaving Mongolia in western directon on M52 abt 250 kms I see a little town called Inya which gives access to an unnumbered road to Kazakhstan abt 200 km's to bordertown of Leninogorsk via a pass of 2598 mtrs high.Has anybody travelled this road recently and what kind of road can I expect there. We are talking about a passage around may 5 2015,snow problem maybe??
Keen to try this one as it saves me a long trip via Novoaltaysk.any input appreciated!!

I'm looking on my Kazakhstan map (Reise Know How 1:2 Mill) and it doesn't show any road at all heading east from the town of Ridder (Leninogorsk) to the border.

The nearest border crossings to Leninogorsk appear to be between Staroaleyskoye - Shamanaikha (looks like a rail crossing with a minor road) and then the major international crossing between Rubtsovsk and Semey.

When I researched my own trip, the Rubtsovsk-Semey crossing seemed to be the best option for entering Kaz after leaving western Mongolia. That's the route that I took.

Rubtsovsk is the main crossing, Shamanaikha is the furthest east.

Thanks guys...that is at least not too far away from my planned route.....I will try and see if I can find the route I suggested....starts at Ilya then goes via tyongur, gorbunovo,ust-koksa,abay,karagay to bystrukha and leninogorsk in Kazakhstan....if it's unrideable I'll report it later!!

The main issue wouldn't be whether or not the route is rideable - more whether or not it leads to an international border crossing.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
