We are planning with my buddy to come and ride in the US 2024.
Plan is to purchase new bikes (KLR650?) from Anchorage (expensive to ship bikes to Alaska
from Finland), then ride south. We prefer gravel and small roads as much as possible,
but not extreme technical tracks.
We're both retired so plan to ride for couple of months, sell the bikes and fly back home to Finland.
I like to plan the routes with paper maps and there seem to be several motorcycle maps for the USA.
- Butler G1 maps > Are these more for tarmac cruisers?
- Butler BDR maps > Are these back roads?
- Back Country Discovery Routes > ?
- Trans America Trail > Are these similar to our Trans European Trail? Are these trails extremely technical?
I have now the
https://www.reise-know-how.de/ maps, but wondering if I should purchase also other maps?
So many to choose and as I have no idea what kind of maps these are, it can be waste of money.
Please advice.
Will anyhow transfer the .GPX routes to Scenic nav app.
Any suggestion about route planning highly appreciated.
If possible, could you for example take a photo of a part of some map and e-mail it to me so I could see how
they look like and decide if I should buy them. ariel @ finlandrover.com
