Morroco

Planning to go to morocco in December 2014 through the xmas period. Is this a good time to travel there?

Would the weather be okay on the various passes and gorges?

How much would you anticipate to spend on accommodation and food?

I am aware there a few guys on here that have been to morocco several times just looking for a bit of advice.

Probably planning to come in via tangers as I think you can get insurance direct at the border crossing.

Thanks

Hi Dale,

the weather depends on where you go, the Atlas mountains or the rif will be really chilly, the south around Erg Chebi will be warm except for the nights.
the higher you get the colder it´ll be.
here´s a chart:

I've travelled UK to Morocco for the last two Xmas's

Fantastic in the Desert in December, high's of around 26c so very nice for exploring and very quiet.

Downside is short days, dark by 6pm, but to counter that I start out early in the mornings, also there is a high chance of ferry disruption between Spain and the UK in December and January due to the weather, this year I had to drive back through France to get home for example.

Edit, Tanger Med is the easiest entry point and you can buy insurance there.

I have scoured Tims site. So will print and complete the D16 in triplicate. I have printed off a load of accommodation recommendations.

Breakdown cover to organise Spain side.

Insurance to clarify with insurer.

What's the cost of insurance when hitting Tangers?

Knowing me it will be a last minute pack it and go...lol

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
