Question Iran to Turkmenistan and back into Iran via land

Hi there,

I am traveling by bike from Dubai to Europe.
All papers and visas have been sorted out so far.
I would however love to do a quick stop over in Turkmenistan for 2 days just to see the Devil’s Hole. My question now is :

a) has anyone tried to go back into Iran with a still valid Iran Visa ? Technically this would require a multiple entry visa. Just wondering if it’s been done before without.

b)has anyone been issued a multiple entry for overland travel by Iran ?

c) any other helpful ideas to achieve Iran - Turkmenistan - Iran ?

I'd say the bigger issue will be getting out of Turkmenistan to the same country you came in from on transit visa.

I think you'll fail on both counts; securing a double entry Iranian visa (I have tried and failed), and getting a Turkmenistani transit visa when you're not transiting the country.

The Turkmenistan problem is simple to solve by booking a tour, the double entry Iranian visa problem may be much harder. I would be very interested to hear if you manage to get one as I've long wished to nip into the SW of Afghanistan and back into Iran.

And of course, you cannot re-enter Iran with a used, single entry visa.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
