From India to London

So as the title of the thread suggests, I am planning to ride from India (either new Delhi or Kolkata) to London. The rough route I was planning:

India
Pakistan/China - would like to avoid or spend as little time as possible in China as I hear they insist on a 4x4 escort which is very pricey.
Tajikistan
Uzbekistan
Turkmenistan
Ferry across the Caspian sea to Azerbaijan
Armenia
Turkey
Then on to Europe

I am planning on allowing two months between July to September to do the trip. Any advice/guidance on the mileage to time balance, any great spots to see along the way or any general advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers guys

Hi i_am_lambert and welcome,
A few more details will be needed such as where will you get your bike, buying in India and removing it from the country is not easy so it would be best to take your own.
You will be starting in the Indian monsoon which is not the best time, a month or two earlier would probably be better, find out when others are crossing China and team up with them to share the cost. It takes some organising but an alternative route is Pakistan, Iran to Turkey, I presume you are a Brit and we now need a guide to Iran but I am not sure if you can get around this.
It is possible to do this trip in the time you have allowed but 3 to 4 months would be better and allow for sight seeing and unexpected eventualities, Turkmenistan can be a pain to get through so many go through Kazakhstan to the Caspian.
The answers to most of the questions you will have are here somewhere and the search box will usually find them, there might be someone else's report of the same trip in ride reports so have a look there for more information.

Another possible consideration might be that there was a recent post restating that the Indian model bikes could not easily be registered back in Europe because they can't be made compliant with eu or British rules.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
