Video - A Shortcut Over the Andes

Here’s a video of just one day out of about 700+ days I recently spent in South America. It’s my first HU post about my trip.
I knew it would be a very long day, yet still managed to get wonderfully distracted along the way. I started late, chatted with curious police investigator for an hour about travel and motos, got semi-lost, backtracked to find gas, got an oil change just because a friendly little moto shop needed the business, then had lunch with mechanic and his buddies, got semi-lost again, had 2nd lunch with oldtimer in old mining town, played with dogs, chatted with llamas, and marvelled at some of the most beautiful wilderness as I bumped along over the Andes in Peru.
Please have a look. I’d love to hear your feedback. Thanks!
Steve

Hi Steve,

Nice little video there and it's why HU is here for everyone to share their experiences. Keep posting them.

Just for the record, how long was it before you made it to somewhere to sleep stuck up at that level would of been quite a sleep experience ??

Al the best

MEZ,
The altitude is definitely tougher on me than the roads or weather. I was feeling too soggy and cold to camp, so it was another 4-5 hours in the dark and mud to get to a hostel. A lukewarm shower can be heaven.

Haha, yes indeed, got caught out once in the Higher Atlas mountains Morocco and soaked in a hot shower for an hour to thaw out, heaven totally.....

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
