First ride on my R1200GS with a Volvo surprise

There is a new bike in the Motormobilist stable, a BMW R1200GS and here is the video of the delivery of the bike and the first ride, with an unexpected Volvo surprise.

What are you going to do with the 850 Jan? Keep it as a spare or sell it?

I keep it as a spare. I don't get a lot of money for it when I sell it. It is a good bike so I rather keep it.

Also, one of my friends his bike (a very old Enfield India) is not ridable at the moment so he can use the 850 when we go touring.

I have a 2007 R1200GS which has a GSA tank, screen and fittings etc.

It is my '2-up' travel bike. I am a BMW technician and this is the one I chose to keep for this purpose.

It is reliable and dependable and handles a pillion and luggage very well. No fancy electronic suspension or gimmicks to go wrong. And very easy for a DIY mechanic to service and take care of.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
