Those Two Idiots. London to Asia. Free this weekend

I hope it's ok to plug this here. If this is against the rules, please delete and I apologise for wasting your time. I couldn't find it in the rules.

............

There is a legend. Some speak in hushed tones, in the corner of dark, quiet places of a journey undertaken by two mighty warriors. This journey stretched from London to Asia, via the Middle East and the mighty warriors became known to those who knew as 'Those Two Idiots.'

Several years ago, two bikers, let's call them Jack and Marcin decided it was time to go to war. They took on the combined might of middle-age, common-sense and basic tenets of decency and decided to ride their motorcycles on a fairly pointless trip halfway around the world.
Jack was more sensible and had a BMW G650x which was carefully planned and built into a hardy and practical world-tourer. Marcin bought a KTM.
You can now read about all this nonsense on Kindle from Amazon on the link below. At $2.99 it's probably the cheapest MC Adventure story but you get what you pay for. This isn't one of those stories of wonderful scenery and optimistic appraisals of the promise the road ahead was set to deliver. Instead of all that this is a more honest, down to Earth and gritty look at what it's like to share a small room with a man whose farts are powerful enough to set off car alarms.
So if long distance motorcycle adventures with almost no preparation, undertaken by a pair of borderline alcoholics is something that interests you then this book might be worth a look. If the price is too high then it's been suggested that falling from a great height onto your head might produce a similar result. Many thanks.

Jack.

Great stuff! We always need MORE humor around here!

But why not help support Horizon's and post your full Ride Report right here on HUBB in the Ride Tales forum?

If no travelers post here ... HUBB will die and the valuable information provided will dry up.

PS: we like "borderline alcoholics" !

I did a trip around Europe and posted the whole thing here. It wasn't an exciting read, I'm afraid. I had a girlfriend with me and Europe was very easy. That kind of inspired me to make things a bit harder on myself and go on a more challenging ride and keep myself blinded to the road ahead. That is how "TTI" happened.
I'm glad it's a fun read. Marcin and myself didn't get on, by Serbia we were really getting on each others nerves. I'm not really sure what the turning point was but all of a sudden we were best mates. We're still in touch now. Spoilers, I've just had a baby boy, he now has a baby daughter. A whole new generation of idiots!

'Those Two Idiots' now has a Facebook page. It's got photo galleries of our chief scientific officer, Marcin and our communications expert, Jack. Also a gallery of the Ladies, ie, my carefully maintained, lovingly prepared and utterly reliable BMW G650 X-country and Marcin's hopeless KTM that he prepared by buying from a man in the pub and just riding and hoping for the best.
There's other stuff too and I'll update as often as I can.

This story is on a Free Promotion this Monday and Tuesday 2/5/16 to 3/5/16. So if your Monday morning is terrible, or not terrible enough, you can snag a free copy of some poorly written, badly researched and wildly inaccurate piece of literary garbage.

Enjoy

Finished the book today and it really was a nice one. Serbia is a good one. Romania would have been nice too part of it at least. Off road on tarmac în some places

We were faced with a choice between Romania and Serbia. I don't think there was really a better or worse choice but we took advice and went with Serbia. I enjoyed it, it was a god ride and we met some really nice people too.

FREE PROMOTION Monday 16/5/2016. Free for 24 hours from midnight, PST. Download 'Those Two Idiots' to read on your Kindle or laptop. Possibly the worst travel book on Amazon and has been likened to rubbing your brain repeatedly over a cheese-grater. Now you can gently have your brain shredded for nothing while you ponder how people like this function on a daily basis.

'Those Two Idiots' had 138 free downloads, breaking my previous record by a big margin. It reached number 1 on Amazon for both motorsports and, more importantly, Adventure travel books. Thank you to everyone who grabbed a copy and exposed yourself to that kind of misery. I hope you enjoyed the read and I hope it inspires you to follow your dreams. If we can do it, anyone can.

amazon

Hi, thank you for posting it here. Would like to read your book, but as I boycott Amazon, I wont download it from there site. It would be nice if I could download it as a pdf from somewhere else, maybe even from HU, I use a non Amazon ebook reader. Dont worry if its too much work for you. All the best mika

You know what, after dealing with Amazon I absolutely don't blame you. Part of the deal is that I can only put my book on Amazon for 3 months exclusively, after that I can post it in other places. I will be doing that at the end of the 90 day period and will come back and let you know.

Thanks.

Jack

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
