Land Rover Defender spare parts dealers in Turkey

Hi all,

Have trawled the internet but not having much luck with the following question:

I have a 1996 Land Rover Defender 110 300Tdi which needs a fair amount of work. I'm aware that Turkey is a major producer of parts for this vehicle, but I'm having trouble locating companies who sell parts direct in Turkey, as opposed to simply supplying distributors under the various well-known aftermarket brand names.

I'd ideally like to pick up a big pile of spares on my way through Turkey and then fit them at my leisure. They're mostly small parts (ball joints, bushings, hoses, brake lines, etc), but I'm also after a couple of bigger bits, including a rear crossmember, a rear end door and a new front bumper.

If anyone could point me towards a starting point for tracking such things down, I'd be hugely appreciative.

Thanks!

Tom

Updating this thread in case anyone else is searching for Land Rover spare parts in Turkey:

After a lot of back and forth I ended up ordering most of the spare parts from Kayalar Oto, who delivered them to me for free in Istanbul. They had 90% of what I needed, and the price was at least 25% cheaper than in the UK for a mix of OEM and pattern parts.

Rhino Overland make a variety of aftermarket rear crossmembers for Defenders and Series vehicles. I paid the equivalent of just £90 for a rear crossmember and they shipped it to Istanbul for free within a week. I also got a steering/sump protection plate from them. They also do front bumpers, including winch bumpers and models with integrated fog lights, but I want to see what I think of the crossmember quality before spending more there. So far they look like a promising outfit for picking up overlanding gear for Land Rovers in Turkey at considerably lower prices than the usual suspects in the West.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
