Toyota LC 100 series for sale - Botswana (Expedition Ready)

The vehicle: Late 2002 Toyota Land Cruiser 100 series, 4.2TD Auto (VX edition)

Km: 235 000km

Condition: Excellent - I have spared no expense at making sure this is the most reliable cruiser possible- all work done at Toyo Service Center (Krugersdorp - South Africa) - Ralph is famous in South Africa for his workmanship and excellent attention to detail, he only works on land cruisers.

Price: £19 000 (negotiable)

Recent preventative maintenance: new water pump - cooling hoses, cambelt replacement (with associated bearings) new radiator, all other components checked and advised not to replace as they are in good condition. 10k km ago I had all fluids changed, all bearings, joints, moving parts greased.
Minor services happen every 7-8k km (Toyota recommend every 10k km for his vehicle).

Accessories:
- Onca bullbar with 2 4x4 direct LED Spot lights;
- Onca rear bullbar with dual swing arm carriers - one has a full spare, the other has a dual Jerry can holder (but can also be used for a 3rd spare if necessary)
- high lift jack mount on spare wheel carrier
- reverse spotlight
- long range fuel tank (150L in total - I get roughly 1000km between fill-ups - currently getting 8km/L on tar )
- old man emu heavy duty suspension
- 4x BFG KO2 A/T with 2 less than 15k km on them, other two have less than 20k km on them.
- 2 full spare tyres with original cruiser mag rims
- front runner roof rack
- Safari Snorkel
- alucab aluminium table under roofrack
- custom leisure tech pop up aluminium rooftop tent
- custom leisure tech 270° awning
- 125w solar panel (fixed to rooftop tent)
- victron MPPT solar regulator
- brand new deltec 100AH lead crystal battery in front runner battery box
- front runner drawer system
- 40L water tank (pioneer plastics)
- 2x front runner camping chairs
- all the tools needed for overland travel
- full set of spare belts, fluids, filters (air, oil and fuel filters)
- full set of kitchen utilities
- escape gear seat covers
- escape gear dash and gear covers
- taurus cargo barrier
- 40 l Engle fridge /freezer
- recovery/sand/mud trax
- a lot of useful camping kit

A lot of heart and soul have been poured into this vehicle and I will be sad to see it go. A change in work circumstances means I will no longer be able to use it enough to make it worthwhile, and letting it sit won't do it any good. I'll be very sad to see it go. (It's name is Frank the Tank)

A very reliable cruiser that I have known all of its life (I bought it for my uncle who looked after it, and I knew the family he bought it from - who bought it from new and always looked after it.

Car is registered in my name In Botswana, and this can easily be changed over to a non resident name (I am not a resident of Botswana)

The bad: it has a small ding in the front right fender - I was quoted R4000 from a reputable panel beater (+- £230) to repair it, but It doesn't bother me and I had far more pressing toys to buy for the cruiser .

Please feel free to contact me for further info or pictures.

Sorry Enzo, I only just saw this post.

It can be viewed in Johannesburg or Gaborone (Botswana), I travel between the two in my holidays.

Its a simple process, just need a copy of my passport, the filled in form of ownership change, and then your passport and a walk into the licensing dept. It took about 40min when I bought mine, done in Gaborone.

Hi,

That's a fine looking truck, nicely done! You have covered most truck related items in your post.

Do you know, would there be any problem with a non-resident (Irish guy) owning and keeping it in Botswana or South Africa? Would I be able to tax and insure it? I don't have a Botswana address to use (but I could use a South African one, we have family in Capetown).

What borders could be crossed with Frank the Tank without needing a Carnet de Passage? I know a South African reg can cross to Nambibia and Botswana at least, but what's the story for a Botswana reg?

How long could it be kept in South Africa (10 months at a time between trips ideally?).

Thanks!
Merv.
