Hi Edd ! I found one contact from this city at the BMW owners motorcycle forum of Russia. Try to call him or to send a sms. I think he has a private garage and he will be able to help you. Good luck.

In Russia I suppose you have a temporary import document wich allows your bike to stay only 3 months in the country, so I think the nearest option is Mongolia.

Storage in Mongolia

Can help out here if needed in Ulaanbaatar...
but you can only keep it here 90 days without having to pay duty...

There is an option to pay a "deposit" to the government for the duty which is refundable when you export the bike.

By law, temporary import of a vehicle means your vehicle has to leave the country with you.

In practice, there were precedents of leaving vehicle for a year in the Russia, but I don't think it was easy to retreat the vehicle afterwards. I wouldn't rely on that.

still not really sure where to go from here.
ozz, you need a carnet, so it makes me think twice about going to se asia.
perhaps ship it back to cdn
or, some how figure out a way back to europe, maybe the train out of vlad to moscow and leave it in the EU...

either way, i need to figure things out fast...

cheers

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
