Tyres - western China (Kashgar)

OK - appreciate this may be a long shot, but does anyone know of anywhere that stocks big bike tires in Kashgar or beyond from the T'gort Pass (headed SE into Tibet)?

Anyone have any experience of mailing tyres ahead from one of the 'Stans? Guessing Kashgar or Lhasa would be the bets if that's even possible.

Thanks

Ed

Oh dear - that must be one of the worst places on earth to need tyres. Didnt see any big bikes at all when riding through there last year. Did however see big bikes amongst them BMW in Yunnan province. But they were from the east of China.

BMW Hong Kong has a Facebook site - maybe they can help?

Cheers Snakeboy - not crossing till Tuesday, so still some time to sort hopefully.

Will check out HK BMW and see if they can help. Maybe they can mail to Lhasa or elsewhere.

Would not try mailing tyres from overseas as they most likely get stuck in customs or confiscated.
BMW Motorrad has a pretty good network (parts supply) around Mainland China and some bike / dealer info in the thread = http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...ops-gear-72688

Another solution would be China's famous https://www.taobao.com (similar to Ebay with fixed pricing but only in Chinese)......

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
