Leaving a motorcycle in Kirguistan for one year

Hello guys.

I have a simple question, I'm planning to make a trip arround the world by etapes, travelling one month every year.
So....I have to leave the bike for one year (10 months) in Kirguistan, Does anybody knows if this is possible?
Thank you very much, all informations are really appreciated.

Leaving a motorcycle in Kyrgyzstan

This is certainly possible right now, I know first hand as my KLR is currently stored in Osh for one year!

One thing you need to know is when you enter the first country of their trade union (Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus) you need to make sure you fill out the paperwork and get a one-year temporary import for your bike. Some people have ended up with just the length of their visa, but apparently it is the law that one year is free.

In terms of storage, I know of two places:

Muztoo in Osh - Contact Patrick info@muztoo.ch - They have a covered area for the bikes, my KLR is there. Note: some if their emails were going straight to my Junk folder, check there for responses.

Hotel Salut in Bishkek. I don't have anything other then the name of the guy Deniar Sartbayev, who apparently doesn't speak English, you could probably contact the Hotel though.

@ domi,

Thanks for the contact information. Maybe I will get back to that once. It is a good idea to store the bike on a long trip.

Additional option could be Home - Iron Horse Nomads in Bishkek. The owner and Director is US guy, Ryan Hornung. Their main direction is Car Rental (mostly 4wd cars for traveling in region) But i think they could have some possibilities to help you )
At least he is in Bishkek and he speaks English. If you need some infromation regarding Kazakhstan, let me know.

This is interesting! 2 Swiss motorcycles companies in Osh! And it's a very good news that you have Tires for sale, in 2011 it was impossible to find tires inmost of Central Asia.

I might come and say hallo in June, depends if my friend manage to get my bike out of russia.

Well I would say, Zorro Moto is not a swiss company...
I is owned by me as a swiss person but is fully registered in Kyrgyzstan, and only in Kyrgyzstan. Therefore a kyrgyz company.
MuzToo on the other hand is only a swiss registered company for the tour market - another focus.

Looking forward to see you here.
Dave

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
