Leaving Bike in Georgia?
I'm hoping to ride from Germany to Turkey and back next summer, but depending on how much time I have, might want to leave the bike in Georgia (presumably Tbilisi) for about a year before coming back to finish the trip. How long can I leave a bike in Georgia without having issues/having to pay import duties/fines, etc.?

I found this thread, which is a few years old, but it sounds a bit "unofficial" and not sure if it is even still current:

Anybody have current information on this topic?

[EDIT] I forgot to mention that I contacted a moto shop in Tbilisi about keeping my bike there; they said that I can keep the bike there for 60 days. That's way too short to be useful, and I'm not sure that the bike shop has much experience with that kind of thing, so I wanted to double-check to see if anyone has first-hand (or solid second-hand!) info!

I did something similar in 2019: from my research on the internet it looked like TIP was 90 days. I still don't know if this was true or not.
Bike was not on the passport, but at the border they asked for registation papers and they definitely putted something in the computer.

I entered Georgia from Turkey April 30th, left the bike there (close to Kutaisi) and flew back home.
I flew back in august and left the country for Russia on august 11th, after 103 days, and nobody asked me for anything.

If you are looking for longer than 3 months, I think Armenia should be an easier option: being part of the Eurasian Union, TIP should be 12 months.
There was someone on this forum who left their bikes there, but I don't remember the nick

Thanks, I saw your posts on the thread that I linked--it's the most helpful info that I have. I've done a bit of research online, where several sources say that the TIP is for 12 months, but I don't know if those sources are reliable at all. I will check back with the Tbilisi moto shop as well.

Thanks for the tip on Armenia, hadn't thought of that.

As Cristiano said, Silke and Jan Neumann know a lot about that part of the world. I too believe Armenia is your best bet with a 12 month TIP. If you need their email, please drop me a pm and I'll pass it on. They're v active on Facebook too and their English is good.

Parking the bike in Georgia
I’ve just left the bike in Tbilisi.Found a Mecanic in front of Pit Stop shop who agreed to keep the bike at a rate of 1 dólar per day.
Seems a good place and I trust the guy.
About customs we’ll have to pay a penalty of I’m not sure if 5-15 or 50 Gilds per day passing 90 days with a maximum of 1000 G (approx 300
€)
Armènia allows 12 months stay without no penalty but I didn’t know any contact where to Park the bike.

If you'd asked here, I (and presumably others) could have given you a place to store the bike in Yerevan. On the other hand, at a total of about 600 euros for a year's storage you're doing fine, and there are added difficulties involved in getting from Tbilisi to Yerevan even when it's not almost winter. Enjoy!

I left my bike in Yerevan in 2019 with Dreambikers. I drove up there in April fly back home and returned to pick up the bike in July without any problems. Be sure to ask for 1 year permit at the border station. I will probably do it again in 2022.

I have looked into leaving my bike in Georgia because that had been my original plan last year. In fact, I will probably still do it this year, although not for a year.

My friends have called around to several border and customs officers whom they are friends with and everybody seemed to think that it should be no problem whatsoever to leave the bike in Georgia for a while. Still not official-official but I will not worry too much.

I am in a similar situation also. I’m coming from Bulgaria through Turkey. I have been waiting two years to get through to Central Asia but with recent events now I was looking at laying up in Tiblisi for things to cool down before continuing east.

I admit I hadn’t considered .Armenia before this and it seems to be a really good alternative

Would also appreciate any additional insights to the Georgia TIP and or storage options in Tiblisi or Armenia.

In Armenia you have one year. Georgia I couldn’t find a real answer. I did leave it in Armenia also in 2019. Really easy.
