Chinese overland companies- which one?

We have been looking at two companies who take bikes/vehicles through China and wondered if anyone had experience of either of them
Navo tours and China Overland (which I believe is based in the Netherlands)
Price seems slightly in favour of Navo at the moment but they say you "may" have to pay part of the Customs deposit - sounds a bit odd and don't want to be stung for a large amount when not expecting it.
Would love to hear from anyone who has had experience (or knows someone) of either company

Navo

Wissam is riding 240,000km around the globe. 18 months. goodwilljourney dot org and for China is using Navo this year. He is due to enter China on 25th of May so we can post more accurate information at that time. So far very professional in planning, accurate and responsive.

In 2012 we were using Sichuan China Youth Travel Service (China Exploration) they were just ok. We were expecting more for the price.

Will update you after a month further on Navo.

Regards,

Gorana

I think NAVO is mainly used by big / commercial expeditions. We also enquired with them two years ago for our Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan leg in China and they're very professional and prompt. But they're also very expensive, especially if you're party consists of only one or two motorcyclists.

In the end we went with Wayne, because his price was reasonable and he had good reviews on this forum. However, Wayne handed us over to Taher of 'Kashgar Adventure Travel International' who did all the paperwork. We were quite happy with Taher's service and he was a friendly guy. He's on the HUBB as 'Taher'.

Good luck.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
