I did the crossing end of october 2017. The ferry left from Alat and there is a small cafe/restaurant in a shipping container at the Alat ferry terminal. Its near the ATM and ticket office in a big carpark where all the trucks park, and you can buy food that they microwave, drinks, snacks etc. I paid a guy in Baku to organise the ticket for me to save me having to ring every day wating to see if the ferry had arrived in port and tickets were available. Cant remember his name but i found it on this website forum somewhere. As the poster above mentioned there are no etickets and no schedule. You just need to ring every day and hope for the best (or pay a fee and let someone else worry about it while you go sightseeing in Azerbaijan).
I think the total cost for bike and myself in a 4 berth cabin was around $180. They serve cooked meals onboard but id recommend taking some food and drinks supplies yourself. I think i arrived at the ticket office to pick up my reseved ticket around 3pm but didnt board the ferry until close to midnight so be prepared to set up camp in the carpark for many hours while you wait
