Coming from the East coast you can get a visa very easily in Addis Ababa. Takes about 24 hours. You have to have a letter of introduction from your embassy (don't seem to need this at other Sudan embassies but the one in Addis seems to like it). You can travel around freely. They don't like you going to the south but other than that they have removed a lot of the restrictions in the last 12 months to make it easy for tourists - for example you don't have to register with internal security every where you go. Nor do you have to register in Khartoum as the stamp in the passport says you don't. If you have just done the Congos and Angola you should find it easy.
