Hello Russ:

Welcome to the HUBB community.

See this post, which explains how I obtained insurance in downtown Tunis (at the main insurance company office) for my motorcycle when I visited Tunisia in 2020.

I was told that there were insurance kiosks at the port, but my ferry arrived at around midnight, and none were open. The chief customs officer told me to just ride to my hotel downtown and get insurance the next morning from the main office of the insurance company, which is a very large building in the center of the town.

I did that. It took a couple of hours to go through the process at the insurance office, they are not too efficient and not particularly used to issuing insurance for foreign motorcycles. But eventually I did get the job done.

Here's the link (might be worth reading the whole thread): Tunisia vehicle insurance?

In May 2023 I was able to enter Tunisia without showing insurance documentation at the port, so you should be able to enter the country without insurance and arrange insurance later.

The best option would be to find an insurance company in the UK willing to insure you, so you are not wasting time on holiday finding insurance. You mentioned NFU, can the group members have a second insurance with that insurer for the time period of the holiday?

Thank you, we will arrive at 6PM and have arranged a hotel and we will go and find the insurance company in the morning. I will post the results.
