Border Crossing Algeria-Mauritania?
We´re planning to ride by two Super Teneres from Tunis to Nouakchott and then to Tanger.
I can´t find any information about getting from Algeria to Mauritania.
If I´m right we should avoid to ride via Mali...?

I don't think you will get anywhere near north Mali as things stand and, unless you get in with the Polisario in Tindouf, you won't get from Alg to Mori.
Last done by Michael Palin I believe, but he flew into Tindouf and then got driven through the PFZ/Mori on his way down.

All that is left is Alg – Niger but no tourist has done that for 2-3 years I think.
That is the most likely crossing to reopen on this side of the Sahara, IMO.
There may be news from Agadez soon.

Well, I think it´s worth to try to cross the border from Tindouf with Polisario. They shoud be quite friendly...

First of all: you will never be allowed to go that far south in Algeria at the moment, for your own safety that is.

You can drive the highways south to Tam and Djanet, with escort of course, but even if the Polisario are friendly, it's their patrons, the Algerians, who must allow you to enter their zone, and I have not heard of this happening except for 'Rainbow Rovers' aid conyoys. They go there for humanitarian reasons, leave vehicles and fly out or come back the same way. To continue overland as a regular tourist into PFZ or RIM is not a precedent that has been set, AFAIK. Morocco - Alg's adversary on this issue - would not like it at all.

I imagine at the junction southwest of Bechar (or soon after) there is a secure checkpoint.

Great book about that route from 1961 in a Ford Zephyr.

Heard today that In Guezzam is closed for all travellers, including locals.
Little news to be had.
Many foreigners in Agadez.
Moro would know all about getting from Bechar to Zouerat but
he's been banished I think
If you want an adventure try crossing alg-mauri, or libya-niger.
After, you must let us know how it worked out

@priffe. Is Moro still located in Dakhla?

When I needed in 2011 info for Adrar region, he was not willing to share for free!?

Thanx, fellows!
I think we will change our route and skip the whole Algeria and Mali.

So, next plan: Start from Melilla (Spain) via East side Morocco to Esmara and then across the Sahara to Mauritania and Dakar... And return to Tanger by the Atlantic ocean.
In 5 weeks...

Now I have to find the topic about Morocco overland...
Is there route information for excample Esmara-Galtat Zemmour-Guergaurat in this Trailblazer´s Morocco Overland-book?

Trailblazer book covers the Atlantic Highway but does not go inland south of Smara.

There is a new French guidebook out soon that covers this area; discussed here and here on the Morocco forum.

As priffe said, 'Moro' shared some good details on this forum for a while.
Search that name which he changed later to 'Florence of Arabia', plus his blog in Slovenian.
