Post BMW Navigator V and Basecamp

Dear All

I have just joined Horizons Unlimited for some help and advice for a tour of Europe I am undertaking in June this year. One of the questions I need answering is regarding Garmin Basecamp routes and using these on a BMW Navigator V. I know how to create routes and transfer them to my Navigator, when I switch on the unit and import my track and choose the track I created, it asks me to select the next destination. I was experimenting yesterday on local roads and when I chose the final destination it bypassed the route I had created on Basecamp and took me straight to the destination and not via my planned route. What are all the next destination options for and how do I get my Navigator to actually follow the route I planned rather than take me straight to my final destination? I have spent many hours with maps and Basecamp to design my twisty road route in Europe and I am worried that when I get off the ferry and choose the final destination for that day it will take me straight there and not via my planned route?? Do you have to tell the unit to follow the route you have just imported rather than it make its mind up for you? I couldn't find the answer I was looking for in the online manual or in the Basecamp videos.
Many thanks
Ray

Know your felling well. Basecamp I found would randomly change routes. It free software so it has lots of bugs

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
