Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride 2021

This year’s Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is on Sunday 23 May 2021. The location is wherever you want it to be and it is raising money for men’s health.

I keep meaning to go on that event but previously it's been in September and for years clashed with a work event. I thought about doing it last year but it was cancelled. I have no problem with the 'ride' bit - plenty of fast appreciating old clunkers in the garage - but it's the 'distinguished gentleman' bit where I come up short. No matter what I wear on a bike (or off it come to that) I end up looking like I've been living down at the local dump for the last five years.

I used to work with someone who did period costume photo shoots and had a small warehouse full of props / clothing. He was always good for a few tweed jackets, stick on moustaches and other sundry Victoriana but sadly Covid did for that business as well.

Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride 2021

I did my best, with what I have here
  • Polished by boots
  • Black jeans
  • White long-sleeved shirt
  • Black west
Not much, but better then doing nothing.

And took a solo ride in the Albufeira area.
To make a contribution to a good cause.

This is something that requires more attention.

Sweden has around 2 500 deaths
England 10 000 death
Every year in prostata cancer.

A lot of these could be avoided by proper testing and care.

But it does not make any headlines in the news. And gets very little attentions. It only affects old men. So who cares....

And due to focus on Covid 19, the little the used to be done in this area is cancelled.

=
Last year a got a free test in a shopping center in this area.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
