Temporary Vehicle Import

Hey everyone, new forum member here, but been lurking for a few years.

I appreciate all the information and insights people provide here.

I have a question about a temporary vehicle importation into Morocco. I know we are allowed 6 months in a calendar year; I was wondering if anyone knows the fines for overstaying. I have seen people mentioned 10,000 DH for 6+ months, but I am unsure if that is true, and if anyone has the values.

Was also wondering, if anyone who has stayed longer than 6 months in a calendar year and has 2 passports, has tried bringing a vehicle in under a 2nd passport. Apparently, it used to work about 10-13 years ago, not sure about now.

Thanks!

Fines increase the longer the overstay of the vehicle.

2 passports wont work because the details included the registration number, name of owner and VIN. The only possible way round is to sell the vehicle to a new owner

OK, selling is not an issue. Theoretically I can sell the vehicle to my wife, and she can bring it in on her passport? I would have all the documentation, so that would not be an issue. Would the VIN not be flagged as already being in?

yes you would need to take it out and back in under a different owner with new papers

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
