Morocco - easy pistes?
Hello all

The bikes:
Tenere 660z, GS 1200, Vstrom 650 DL K7

10 days to discover Morocco, here is the rough itinerary http://bit.ly/2kCjLAX . Having established that the trip will be mostly on road because the groups off road experience is very limited, we still want to do some easy pistes. Could anyone recommend easy pistes to explore, from Er-Rachidia to Merzouga, or Merzouga to Zagora?
Something to make the trip a bit more exciting, nothing too extreme.

I've searched this forum and other websites, but I can't make my mind and I wouldn't want to compromise the group's safety.

You are already doing one piste when you go up the Dades on the R704. It's tarmac to 20km north of M'semrir, then piste to Agoudal, see E23 Upper Dades Gorge

Also, I believe the section of the N12 you are riding into Zagora is not yet tarmac, but is a very well graded metalled road (metalled is from the Latin metalum which means quarried rock).

It's good to get off the 'N' (national) roads, and one place to do this is between Khenifra and Azrou. From Khenifra head east on the P7306 and as you climb, you enter the wonderful cedar forest. Turn left (north) on the P7311, stop and visit Source Oum er-Rbia, then before you reach Ain Leuh turn right onto the P7217 which eventually brings you to a crossroads with the N13 where there's normally some wild monkeys hanging out and some easy tracks in the forest.

Tim you should be made an ambassador of that country!

Thank you very much, yes, the idea is to get out from the crowded roads, but safely.

Feel free to modify the route! is not yet closed.

Fisac,

all it took to turn my last trip to Morocco into an outstanding, proper motorcycle adventures was:

- carefully listen/read what Tim has to say
- pay attention to what Scott mentions
- take a proper offline sat nav with you (proper does not mean expensive. The free app "maps.me" already did the job for me.)
- prepare for the routes already back home and upload them to your sat nav
(You can not rely on the guidance of locals.)

That's about it.
I had to go twice because the first time round I was not prepared according those 4 advices stated.

I'm certainly paying good attention to what Tim has to say, and taking good note of all the advice thrown here.
