licence requirement to hire 50cc moped in morocco

What are the requirements to hire a 50cc moped in morroco, I do not have a driving licence as a result of having an epileptic fit only once ever, (in Agadir), I now have the wish to see the tinmal mosque on the road to the tizi n test, by bicycle but transporting my bike is problematical so I thought of a moroc
can moped without the bread box. The question is do I need a driving licence to hire a moped and insurance, I would assume most moped riders in morocco do not have licences or insurance but I do not know.

To hire a bike from a regular rental outfit they will want to see a license and will provide insurance.
Might be easier to borrow one off a friendly local.
It's 110kms to Tin Mel from Marrakech.

If you ride any powered two wheeler without a full motorcycle licence your travel as in medical insurance will be invalidated if you have an accident so beware.

No you dont need any license of any sort. Answer here is very specific. Anything 50cc or less will not require license.

Above 50cc, meaning 80 or 125 cc you will need a Motorcycle endorsment.

On a side note, Morocco has a major issue with this very specific issue. A lot, and I mean a lot, of riders are riding chinese bikes that are 90cc, 110c , 150cc or 200cc without license.

If you are in Morocco you see the three-wheeled bikes used like pick up trucks to move goods or people. Those are 150cc, you dont see a plates on them. Owners dont have licenses.

This issue started when chinese bikes started being imported in mass, and the laws regarding mopeds/motorcycles were not clearly understood and it led to a lax situation. Then many people started relying on these bikes for living (transporting goods) or just going to work.

It has become sort of a public policy to ignore the issue as a part of a social balancing act. Riders do no harm and these bikes provide employement and help with the transportation crisis which is a major issue in the country.

I know this stuff first hand. Been there done that. Spoke to many people who own the bikes, spoke to local dealerships as well. If you need help pm me, i can put in touch with someone who can rent. I dont know anyone personally but i speak the language fluently and can negotiate local rate for you.

Major places for rental are Marakesh and Agadir (Agadir on the beach road.)
Casalanca is also possible. I know a few websites and private people who do it on facebook.

Again, if you need big bikes you will need a license. Big bikes means Honda Bros 250, Falcon 400x xt660 etc.

Scooters and mopeds you are fine (and again chinese bikes tend be considered mopeds even when they are 90cc or so).

I’ll put a link to a couple of places, i need to do a quick search.

folks who rent scooters have insurance they provide you when you take the bike...it's just not some super duper coverage. You get minimum liability etc.

and license is not required for 50ccs

if someone wants to do small distances while already there, I don't see why not, attitude is what matters, not how much $$ you spend

this guy went around the around on a honda cub ...
