Help! Tires for KTM ADV 990 in Morocco
Hi,
I'm currently in Morocco on holidays and I need a back tire for a KTM ADV 990. Do you know a place around Midelt where I can buy 1 and also install it? I have currently the Pirelli scorpions.
Thank you.
Regards,
Elvis

Tyres
Hey Elvis,
to the hubb.
For new tyres you can try Moto Plus who are at Casablanca, details "borrowed" from Tim Cullis' Morocco Knowledgebase.
( Moto Plus for bike spares in Morocco)
Moto Plus sarl

email: motoplus@menara.ma - motoplus.ma@hotmail.com
Alternatively, there were loads of half worn, or better (used) 21" and 18" Michelin Desert tyres at the workshops in Zagora when I was there 2 weeks ago. Which may be helpful if you are heading in that direction.
I have a set of tyres in storage at Midelt, but I need them in 3 weeks and they are the wrong size
Good luck,
Dale

Fitting
Elvis - forgot to say that I had my tyres changed over at a scooter repair shop for 150dhm at roughly this GPS location N32 41.039 W4 44.635.
The guy made the front tyre look simple, but the rear was a bit out of his league. He got there in the end with no damage to the tyre, tube or rim.
I will probably use him on the return to change back to the road tyres as he is a known quantity, if a little steep in price from I read was suggested (100dhm).

Even in central Marrakech I think in terms of just 20dh to vulcanise a punctured tube, then take out the wheel, remove the tyre, refit the mended tube and replace everything. So 50dh to change two tyres is ample. Bear in mind that most guys in repair shops earn less than 100dh/day.
Don't go to one of the scooter/moped places, instead find a tyre place with massive great truck/tractor tyres outside, then they won't be phazed by a motorbike tyre.

GPS N30 20.400 W5 50.222
On the left on the main road as you come in to Zagora from the north, Mohammed Gordito runs one and his cousin or brother runs the one next door. Very good on both bikes and 4x4s.

Rasthurlo - apologies for the delay, I have been offline trekking in the High Atlas. Tim has provided GPS co-ords for 2 of the garages that had random new and used tyres in stock just recently. There are also a couple of other garages at the Southern end of town, Zagora Garage being the one that where I spotted the Michelin Deserts.
Not ideal, but here is a Google map link between Tim's GPS coordinates and the other garage(s): N9, Zagora, Morocco to Unknown road - Google Maps
Cheers,
Dale
