Feedback on 12 days in Morocco

Hi all. I am planning a solo 12 day moto tour around Morocco in October. I've been doing a lot of research the last few weeks and have put together two different plans that I'd like some feedback on. Thanks!

The primary differences in plans are: do I stop in Fes and spend an extra day there, at the expense of missing the Tizi n' Test and seeing the Moroccan coast? I'm also open to any other recommendations and changes. I also thought about trying to attend the Pizzas on the Pistes overlander event; however, I'll be on loaded F800GS and didn't plan on bringing any camp gear.

Plan 1:
Day 1: Gibraltar to Chefchaouen via Tanger Med.
Day 2: Chefchaouen to Azrou. Stopping at Volubilis.
Day 3: Azrou to Merzouga. Understand this could be a long day (430km).
Day 4: Day off in Merzouga doing touristy things.
Day 5: Merzouga to Agoudal. Stopping at Gara Medouar and the Todra Gorge.
Day 6: Agoudal to Aït Benhaddou (or Ouarzazate) via the R704. Stopping at Dades Gorge.
Day 7: Aït Benhaddou to Marrakesh via the P1506 and Tizi n'Tichka.
Day 8: Day off in Marrakesh doing touristy things.
Day 9: Marrakesh to Taroudant via the Tizi n' Test.
Day 10: Taroudant to Essaouira via coast road.
Day 11: Essaouira to El Jadida via coast road.
Day 12: El Jadida to Cueta via toll roads. Another potential long day (500km).

Plan 2:
Day 1: Gibraltar to Chefchaouen via Tanger Med.
Day 2: Chefchaouen to Fes. Stopping at Volubilis.
Day 3: Day off in Fes doing touristy things.
Day 4: Fes to Midelt via P7306. Stopping to see monkeys outside Azrou.
Day 5: Midelt to Merzouga with a few stops along the way (Legion ruins, Jorf Khettaras, etc).
Day 6: Day off in Merzouga doing touristy things.
Day 7: Merzouga to Agoudal. Stopping at Gara Medouar and the Todra Gorge.
Day 8: Agoudal to Aït Benhaddou (or Ouarzazate) via the R704. Stopping at Dades Gorge.
Day 9: Aït Benhaddou to Marrakesh via the P1506 and Tizi n'Tichka.
Day 10: Day off in Marrakesh doing touristy things.
Day 11: Marrakesh to Rabat via R/P roads.
Day 12: Rabat to Cueta via toll roads.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
