No transit Visa for Saudi Arabia in UAE

We, Austiran nationality, tried last week to get a Saudi transit Visa (destination Sudan) in Abu Dhabi. Unfortunately no chance to get a Visa. You will find a detailed report on our blog (it is in german, use the translate button). A german couple as others tried it in February (destination Jordan), also no chance.

The only way you can get transit visas for Saudi Arabia is if you are living and working in one of the GCC countries like UAE or Bahrain. If you have an EU or US passport you might be able to find someone to sponsor your visit (usually only close relatives, or companies bringing you in as a "consultant" etc), but then you have to fly in and fly out.

Help with transit visa

Hi Eva, Alfred

One of my colleagues may be able to help with this. It's still all about who you know and ask in this part of the world. I will send you a PM, please contact me and we can talk about it.

I should have my own truck in Dubai by the end of August, and will be using the same Jeddah / Port Sudan ferry I guess you are aiming for. If I can help you get the visa, all I ask is you let me know all about the ferry process before I try it!

Please call me or email me. Check your PMs

Tim

Hi there. Sadly I could not obtain the visa for Eva and Alfred, despite considerable efforts here (and through my company we have good contacts at the Saudi Embassy, I've been going there for 24 years now and have many customers in Saudi, but we could not manage it.) But "Watch this space". My own truck is due to arrive in Dubai in less than a week and I plan on driving through Saudi, to Jeddah, then Port Sudan, myself in April 2017.

Now IF it can be done at all, it'll only be because I've been a resident out here for so long and have good connections, BUT, if I am successful, then I'll maybe make the right friends and connections along the way and MAYBE it will give me some insight into how others might achieve it.

I do know that the Saudi Consulate here in Dubai wanted a letter from the traveler's Embassy in Dubai (or Abu Dhabi) saying that they would be responsible if the traveler(s) caused any problems. No Embassy on earth will supply such a letter I believe.

I am working on all this now for myself - obviously if I have success, I'll post something on HUBB.

Dubai to S. Africa

Hi Larry - happy to meet up and talk. I keep hearing about a mythical(?) Salalah to Djibouti ferry but have yet to find evidence of its existence. If you know otherwise I'd be happy to know it! Check your messages...

After a 6 hour battle with the RTA last Tuesday my truck is finally on the road in Dubai and currently parked up in Al Quoz at my office.
