Israel through Jordan to Saudi Arabia

Hi,

I know it used to be difficult to enter certain Islamic countries if you had been through Israel. Is that still true?

I'm trying to get myself and motorcycle to Kenya but the land route through Egypt and Sudan is no longer possible because of the war in NW Ethiopia. However I have hear there is a sea route from Saudi Arabia to Djibouti or Kenya. The trick is to get from Europe or Turkey to Saudi.
Any current post 2020 info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jack

Although the relation between Israel and Saudi Arabia has improved behind the doors, an Israely stamp in your passport or any other sign you have been in Israel is still 'haram'. You may ask the Israely officials not to stamp your passport but the Saudis wil find out, if they want to know. Furthermore, there is no (regular) ferry between Saudi Arabia and Djibouti. There was a ferry between Yemen and Djibouti but not anymore due to the war in Yemen.

You would recommend you:
1. reconsider your initial plan to ride through Egypt and Sudan, entering Ethiopia at Metema border which not too far from Bahir Dar. That region is not effected by the civil war and the road to Addis Ababa is still government controlled. However take into account the recent turmoil in Sudan.
2. Consider to transport your bike and yourself by AIR to Addis Ababa. Ethiopian Airlines is good and (quite) cheap.

Have a good ride!

Hello,

I'm doing a road trip from France to Vietnam and I'm seeking for a way to get from Turkey or Cyprus to Saudi Arabia by Egypt or Israel. I've found a ro-ro from Cyprus to Israel (https://www.rosenfeld.net/) but I'm wondering, even if there are no evidence in the passeport that we are coming from Israel, if we can enter in Saudi Arabia by Jordania ?
Do you have any information about it ? I didn't find anything on the forum, especially about a potential evidence on the CPD carnet.

Thank you very much

Phil

If you come from Turkey to North Cyprus and then Cross into Cyprus, you might have problems shipping out from Cyprus.

Cyprus considers the North route illegal.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
