Hallo lalli,

It sounds like I better have enough $ with me.
Does it make any differance if you've got euro's or dollars with you?
You also said that you had to buy insurance at the border. Is this instead of a carnet? and if so how much is such an insurance?
And as I'm planning on staying in Syria for three to four weeks, would a visa and insurance bought at the border alow me to stay for that long?

And Lalli, I'm a verry patient man I think I'll fit in pretty well overthere.

thanks Rinus

Following this thread with interest, since I'm intending to visit Syria, Jordan and Iran next year. I'm about to start working out the price of a carnet, but if it is possible to get across without one, I will try that. It depends which is cheaper - the carnet or the 'bribe' necessary without a carnet.

If it is just a matter of time spent hanging around trying to get across without a carnet that will not be a problem.

Must remember to take some USD.

Rinus - let us know how you get on next spring.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
