Breast Cancer Awareness
I am considering organizing my South America trip around fundraising for Breast Cancer awareness. My wife died from ovarian cancer two years ago and I will always be grateful for the help the Susan B. Komen organization provided.
Has anyone here ever organized such an effort? I'm thinking I can get local businesses to pledge 1 cent per mile completed (around $120.00 for the trip)with the money going straight to the Susan B. Komen organization. I've gotten a lot of interest and would appreciate any advice.
I've spent many hours (100's) on this site and Advrider.com but don't recall anyone ever doing the trip in support of charity. What do you all think, could it work?

I think there's a fair few posts on charity sponsorship, but search is never easy. Have a look here:

for some thoughts, but there's porbably a lot more. I say go for it, you'll raise awareness and even in these cash strapped times if you're good you should raise plenty of cash too.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
