Grant and Susan
This is a great shame that day tickets have been such a secret.
Earlier in this thread people were asking about them but there was no response from yourselves or any of the organisers.
I myself have enquired at the last 3 events , on behalf of our club members , and have been told at the entry gate that they do not exist and that day visitors would have to pay the full entry..( 2 day )
In fact one of our members was charged for 2 days as a day visitor on the Saturday last year
There is no mention of it on the web site.. A week before the event it was announced on the FB group that day tickets are NOW available
I organise the events for a club who have large overland trucks . We have attended in large numbers for the last three events, but this year decided not to attend for a varety reasons . Mainly the price and the lack of day tickets.
I am afraid that your suggestion of actively discouraging day entry doesn't make sense to me.. The day visitors of today are the campers of the future

As an impartial 3rd party I would agree with the above, BUT 100% agree with Grant. 1 day really isn't enough to get the full effect.

I couldn't agree more.
Doing the full weekend is by far the best experience.
However, some folks can't do the weekend and would love to maybe get there for the Saturday.
I just feel that discouraging people isn't the right way
I wonder if the folks who were asking about day tickets earlier in this thread actually attended or where they actively discouraged, which would be a shame.
That's why when the announcement that day tickets were NOW available was made very late on on the FB group I quickly put it on here to help them and anyone else out.
I hope they got the message and attended and had a great day.
In previous years day tickets have never been available even on the day. I have tried to get them at the gate and been told that they don't exist and the smallest entry was for 2 days.
I think what Grant suggests isnt the reality
. Members of our club who couldn't do the whole weekend have missed out in the past
I have attended several and they are great events

Hi Neil,
Glad to hear you like the event!
Our "Official Policy" has always been that:
- We never turn anyone away. (UNLESS we have notified in advance that it is limited entry and pre-reg only etc)
- Day passes have always been available, with the caveat that you pay for "the rest of the event" on entry, and when you leave, go back to the Reg Tent and get a refund on the difference. This is because as you can understand, once someone is in, there is no way to make sure they leave at the end of the day. And we know people have managed to rejig their schedule and stay on!
I suspect the person who paid for two days last year didn't quite get the message on that correctly. We are volunteer run, and sometimes the messages get garbled in translation, so our apologies for that - we will make it clearer next year, AND put it on the webpage for the event.
We do discourage day tickets, trying to get people to come for the whole event or at least a two day pass. We HAVE had issues where someone has come for the day, wandered around and checked out the exhibitors, not gone to presentations and seminars, and concluded it was a crappy event! They just didn't get into it, and misinterpreted what it was all about - and we REALLY don't want that. So it's a bit of damned if you do and damned if you don't situation for us.
Hope that makes sense!
For next year we have already discussed how do we get the 4 wheelers to attend in greater numbers, and would appreciate comments on that. We need more to attend and present, both on trip stories and on technical aspects. We also need a 4 wheels person to become part of the organizing team, to help make it a better event for them. Interested?
