which slipped straight through my fingers as I could not close them. A roaring brazier and a few drams from a hip flask eventually took the numbness away and left me feeling like I merely wanted to die. A night in minus 4C left me in my sleeping bag til midday on the Saturday. By contrast -2 on the Saturday night seemed positively tropical.
