Volunteers get together - Sunday 11 August 2013

Hi everyone.

Just a reminder that we need to get together any/all volunteers for a chat and so I'm hopeful that everyone interested in helping out can meet at the Dayboro Showgrounds at 12:30 PM; on Sunday 11 August 2013. We'll go over the layout as the grounds have changed a bit, the draft schedule and what we need to sort out between then at the meeting. Afterwards we will ride up to one of the local Dayboro cafes or if they are full, we'll go on to one of the Pit Stop cafes. If you can let me know beforehand if you are coming that would be good, but not essential. Hope to see lots of you there.

I'll be there either on the blue Suzuki DR800 or in my old blue Falcon.

Thanks,

Shane

Australian Road Rider and Australian Motorcyclist magazines

Hi everyone,

For those who haven't been to HU Travellers Meeting/Overland Expo and want to know what it is all about there are two different and separate articles in Australian Road Rider and Australian Motorcyclist magazines respectively. The ARR article is a series of interviews with different volunteers and travellers and the AMM article is a report from last years meet in Dayboro. Both are good reads and hopefully will encourage a few more to register for what should be a series of cracker events.

Regards,

Shane

Would you be AOK to include looking after the PA system and data projectors as well? It sort of fits in together. The reason I ask is that we'll go through these on Thursday afternoon to make sure that you are not thrown into the deep end.
Great...sent you an email. No probs on PA and Projectors...will see you on Sunday.

Cheers

Hallo,

If anyone is heading north to Dayboro or heading south afterwards needs accommodation (or a garage to work on their bike) in the Newcastle area please feel free to PM me.

I'll be probably leaving to head north on the Wednesday 25th.

Hi guys, just to let you all know that we now have more than enough presenters for HU Dayboro this year. Anyone else interested in giving a presentation will be on the "backup list".

Australian Road Rider July 2013 Article

Provided with generous permission of Australian Road Rider magazine. I hope that you enjoy this. The images have been reduced in size but if you zoom in they expand nicely and are quite legible.

A little late in the day, but being on the road things never go smoothly. Just wondered if you wanted to squeeze in another preso. 5 years from India to Aus I could do a very broad outlook or a bit more focus on a set of countries.

India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka (2 years on the road)or Thailand, Laos, Cambodia or Malaysia, Indonesia, East Timor.

No worries, as they say Down Under if you can't.

Sorry John, we are full up for presentations! However, we hope you come anyway, and of course get your name in early for 2014 if you're still in Oz, or for HUBB UK 2014!

And just in case, if you have something already, it would be great to have something in the back pocket just in case someone doesn't make it because their bike broke down.

See you there!

Hi Grant,

No problem, i'll save my pennies and get there for a or two or three and have a good old natter with everyone.

I'll be in New Zealand next followed by South America so if the timings right I'll volunteer then.

Look forward to seeing you at Dayboro,

John

Heading up from the Gold Coast Friday

Hi
I will be riding up to the meeting on Friday morning from the Gold Coast.
I was planning on taking a scenic route. Boonah-Mt Glorious ect.
The long way there but the direct route is soooooo boring.

If anyone is interested in joining me give a shout.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
