AT Sub-frame
Fletch,
I´ve ridden about 15,000 miles fully loaded on my AT since June. About 4,000 were off road (Transamtrail) with the vast majority of the rest two up. Over all of this the bike has been fully loaded and had to withstand a couple of slow (5mph or slower) drops and one quite nasty one (45mphish). Over all of this the sub-frame has stood up to the test very well, with only a slight bit of lateral twisting caused by the big-off.
IMHO I'd think twice about adding extra weight to a frame that is already very strong.
Good luck with the prep!
