KrugXP Cabin Build update

I reckon I timed it about right when ordering from KrugXP - they are now very busy and it may interest you to know that Excap have turned to them for a demo cabin. And if you know how detailed Excap's trucks are, I think you can imagine how good KrugXP are proving.

I'm very happy with the build quality of my cabin, though it is taking longer than I'd hoped, but always with my agreement. Krug have proven time and time again to be flexible in making mods along the way, small design changes etc. Sometimes they've billed me for that, other times they've just absorbed small charges, so they are also great to work with.

My cabin will be ready in a few days' time, then has to be shipped to Germany to be paired up with my Oberaigner chassis. Due to the RoRo schedules / availability I can't see it sailing to Dubai before mid November so I shoud have it on the road in Dubai for my 2016 Christmas present :-)

Details here: It's easier than describing it all.... www.timstraveltruck.rocks

Thanks for sharing Tim,

Build quality looks exceptional, I wont even start to guess at what this project is costing, if I ever have a lottery win though, the 6x6 Oberaigner Sprinter would be in my top 3 overland vehicles of choice (the others are a MAN 8x8 and a Unimog ) looking forward to seeing the cabin mounted on the chassis and the finished vehicle

Thanks Grif. Unfortunately I no longer have to guess what it will cost, I've seen the final bill! Then when it gets to Dubai there's the import duty (only 5% admittedly but 5% of a lot) registration, insurance and....all the other equipment I want to put on board. Still, it was either that or a mid life crisis McLaren, and they're rubbish off road :-)

Yes, Krug have made a damn fine job of it. I believe after mine they've decided not to offer quite such a tailored service, more a choice of 'option menu' items like the other builders, for all the right economic and design delay reasons, so I reckon I lucked out - a totally personalised truck, built to a very high standard.

You're not the only one who can't wait - I've been feeling that way for about 4 months now and have a few more to go.....

Bugger, it seems the Webasto gas heater installed was U/S on start up, a replacement has been ordered but this will delay the delivery by as long as it takes to arrive. Ho hum, I always knew this project would teach me patience.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
