Turkey e-visa overland
Hi all,

I am trying to figure out if I the e-visa is valid to enter overland to the country but I can't get a clear response. Everytime I contact the embassy no matter what website or link the always reply the same:

Yes, I have used the e-visa to enter Turkey from both Greece and Georgia when on my 'bike.

I used e-visa entering from Greece in April- no problems (Australian passport)

Just to add weight to this thread, I too have used the e-visa for overland entry from Bulgaria using British passport. Visa was cheaper than using my Oz passport

Thank you all, can I confirm when was that? After 11th April 2014?

The staff at the helpline in Turkey embassy are terribly unhelpful on this matter...

Merhaba David,
https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/
is active and a bit cheaper than gate or consulate visa..no worries, last year and this year I met several travellers who has got it.
You can even enter Turkey with your Spanish identity card.

About a year ago with the evisa.

TIP - if you are likely to use the toll roads (which are good value), get it sorted out as soon as you enter Turkey because it is easy to get on them without realising and there are no cash booths to pay.

I will check about the toll roads as I will definitely have to used them, I am heading Iran so it will be a long journey.

I entered/exited July 2015 using the eVisa.

For the toll roads, I merely stopped at the first toll booth (before passing) and walked into the office off to the side to obtain an electronic tag. It was about 20 minutes of admin, but nothing too painful. I then left the electronic tag in the window of my tank bag when riding through each of the booths and it worked fine.

I really didn't want to use motorways, but the pass was a necessary evil in order to cross the Bosphorous, unless you use a ferry.

Good mate's brother-in-law has just come back from a business trip (he's a food scientist travelling to farms and food processing plants) and says it's all fine. As long as you didn't look strangely at Erdogan sometime in the last five years, and stay away from Diyarbakir and close to the Syrian border, you'll be fine.

Tomorrow I'll cross from chia to cesme by ferry, so I wanted to ask how is the situation of the country for those who are there right now.

I'm meeting some friends in Istanbul on the weekend but some have decided to not go as they think it's not safe.

I confirm that I had no trouble entering Turkey with the EVisa and the mortorbike.

However, the port of entry at Cesme is small and I had to wait a few hours to get a insurance for the bike, basically a guy from downtown came to the border to do the paperwork for me. I am not sure in other ports of entry though.
